When
Dave Self started his
growing operation in 1976,
in Delray Beach, Fl., it was
called Dave Self's Wholesale
Plants. He sold every type
of plant imaginable, both
interior and exterior.
In
1981 Self moved the company
to Loxahatchee Florida, west
(the West) of West Palm
Beach. In 1983, Self decided
to focus on producing
annuals (the Annuals)
because of an increasing
need for color in the
residential and commercial
landscape.
In
1990 while vacationing in
northern California, Self
came across a garden center
called "Wyld West Garden
Center". Self liked the
English spelling of the word
wild ( the Wyld).
Self
wanted to remove his name
from the company name, and
wanted it to be more
applicable to the 90's and
more related to what he
grew. |
